Liverpool striker Divock Origi could solve Newcastle United’s striking problem.

Divock Origi has told the Daily Star that leaving Liverpool at the end of the season is far from impossible.

Origi is currently on loan at Wolfsburg, and the Bundesliga side are already making plans to sign him permanently.

And when asked if a move away from Anfield could occur, Origi said: “It’s a nice club and I am having a good time. I can grow here. And you can never rule anything out in football.”

Newcastle United should now be keeping tabs on the 22-year-old’s progress, if he is open to leaving Liverpool.

Newcastle will need a new striker next season, with their current options simply not up to scratch.

Joselu and Ayoze Perez have not scored at all prolifically this season, while Dwight Gayle has only truly proven himself at Championship level and Aleksandar Mitrovic does not appear to be in Rafael Benitez’s plans.

Origi could, therefore, offer a tempting option to Newcastle – as he would give them what they have been lacking.

Origi is blessed with pace and power and, crucially, he still has ample time to develop as a player.

And if Wolfsburg are planning on making Origi’s switch a permanent one, then Newcastle should be considering rivalling them, and giving the Belgian an offer to stay in England.
