Should Newcastle United try and sign the West Ham United man on loan?

It remains to be seen whether West Ham are willing to lose him, but if he’s available on loan then Newcastle United should absolutely look into it.

The Magpies are three points above the relegation zone in the Premier League and Saturday’s 1-1 draw at home to bottom-of-the-table Swansea City does nothing to inspire confidence that Rafael Benitez’s side can stay up this season.
Joselu rescued United in that one, but the £5 million summer signing is still nowhere near good enough and, as proven on Saturday, nor is Dwight Gayle.

Benitez needs somebody else, which is no secret, and re-signing the West Ham man on loan might not be a popular choice, given his reputation among some Newcastle fans, but it would be a smart one and the Spanish manager needs to consider it an option.
Snubbing Chelsea wouldn’t be an easy decision, but the Blues can offer him money and Champions League experience. Newcastle, his boyhood club, can offer him regular football and the chance to be a hero, if his goals wind up steering them away from danger.
It’s a question of which appeals to the 29-year-old more.
