According to Caracol, Newcastle United are interested in signing James Rodriguez from Real Madrid in the summer transfer window.

It has been reported that the Colombia international, who can operate as an attacking midfielder or as a winger, will cost Newcastle €32 million (£27.99 million).

According to The Daily Star, the takeover of the Magpies will be announced soon, with The Times reporting that Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund (PIF) will own 80% of the Premier League club.

Competition

Newcastle are not the only club from England who are reported to be interested in signing James from Spanish and European giants Madrid in the summer transfer window.

According to Marca, Arsenal are interested in signing James, while Defensa Central has claimed that Everton and Wolves want the Colombia international, who was described as “a great player” by former Madrid and Newcastle manager Rafael Benitez in December 2015, as quoted in The Guardian.

Good signing for Newcastle United?

James may have struggled to make an impact at Madrid in recent times – he was out on loan at Bayern Munich for two seasons and is not guaranteed a place in Zinedine Zidane’s starting lineup at the moment – but he is a very good attacking player who scores goals and creates chances.

The Colombian playmaker is also a serial winner, having won domestic league titles, domestic cup competitions and the Champions League in his career, and he would be a very good signing for Newcastle this summer.
