Newcastle United are interested in signing Sandro Ramirez from Everton in the January transfer window, according to The Daily Mail (Transfer live blog, 14:05, Saturday, January 20, 2018).

It has been reported that Newcastle manager Rafael Benitez is open to the idea of paying a loan fee of around £2 million and the forward’s £100,000-per-week wages in full.

It is clear that Newcastle need to sign players in the January transfer window, especially a proven goalscorer who can find the net 10 to 15 times in the second half of the Premier League.

The Magpies’ (reported) interest in Sandro smacks of desperation. After all, this is a forward who has failed to do anything of note since his move from Malaga to Everton in the summer of 2017.

The 22-year-old Spanish forward has failed to score or provide an assist in 277 minutes of Premier League football so far this season, according to WhoScored.

Sandro is not what Newcastle need at the moment, but it seems that he is a target of manager Benitez.
