The Newcastle United striker probably couldn’t believe his luck when French giants Paris Saint-Germain reportedly came calling.

Though Aleksandar Mitrovic’s future appears to lie away from Newcastle United, Bleacher Report claim The Magpies turned down a January bid from European giants PSG.
The Serbian’s combustible nature has been the least of his problems this season with his often wayward finishing meaning the fans are starting to lose patience with his below-par performances.
Mitrovic has only found the net four times in the league all season while manager Rafael Benitez has handed him just seven Championship starts with top scorer Dwight Gayle often preferred in a loan striker system.
However, according to Bleacher Report, Newcastle refused to consider an offer from Paris Saint-Germain last month, during which time the Ligue 1 champions were openly looking for a back-up forward to take the pressure of Edinson Cavani, Benfica’s Goncalo Guedes eventually arriving later in the window.

The publication adds that the major factor in Mitrovic remaining at St James’ for the remainder of the season was down to Benitez’s refusal to allow any of his squad to leave with a title challenge on the line – a decision that looks increasingly astute now Gayle will be out for a month.
Nonetheless, many Newcastle fans would scoff at the suggestion that the 22-year-old would make the grade at PSG after struggling for goals on Tyneside.
