Newcastle United are showing a real interest in Estudiantes talent Benjamin Rollhesier ahead of the January transfer window.
Estudiantes ace Benjamin Rollheiser is back on Newcastle United’s wish list after summer speculation.
That is according to Argentinian newspaper Ole, who claim that Newcastle are back in for Rollheiser.
The Sun’s Alan Nixon claimed in August that Newcastle were chasing a deal for Rollheiser.
It was suggested that Estudiantes wanted around £12million for the attacker, who had interest from Zenit St Petersburg and CSKA Moscow in Russia.
Newcastle are now thought to be interested again, though Estudiantes are yet to receive an offer from the Magpies.
Who is Newcastle United target Benjamin Rollheiser?
Rollheiser emerged in the River Plate first team having previously been with Estudiantes and Deportivo Sarmiento.
The diminutive wide man notched one goal and two assists in 34 first-team appearances for River before returning to Estudiantes in 2022.
Rollheiser has impressed this year, hitting 12 goals in 54 games for Estudiantes.
The 23-year-old is a small, Argentinian, left-footed attacker who has played down the right flank and as a number 10.
Maybe we shouldn’t be surprised that Rollheiser has earned lofty comparisons to Lionel Messi.
Estudiantes boss Eduardo Dominguez told Ole over the summer that Rollheiser reminds him of Messi in terms of his style of play.
We can’t expect Rollheiser – or anybody, for that matter – to reach Messi’s level, but the Estudiantes ace may feel that the time is right for a move to Europe.

Sunderland have also been interested in Rollheiser
Newcastle may well move for Rollheiser, believing that he can be competition for Miguel Almiron down the right side of Eddie Howe’s attack.
The Magpies could face some competition for Rollheiser though, and not just from the Russian clubs mentioned earlier.
The Sun’s Alan Nixon reported in September that Sunderland had teed up a loan deal for Rollheiser ahead of the summer transfer window.
The deal collapsed but Sunderland may well be keen to resurrect a move in January if the Argentinian plans to leave.
Newcastle would back themselves to beat Sunderland to a deal here, but the Estudiantes ace may face some tricky decisions in January.
