Newcastle United want Moises Caicedo but now face competition from Real Madrid as they consider him an alternative to Bruno Guimaraes.

The Magpies will feel that they landed a pretty incredible bargain with their deal for Bruno Guimaraes.

Newcastle paid around £40million to sign Bruno from Lyon back in January of this year.

Bruno has become one of the Premier League’s top midfielders and he is understandably attracting interest.

The Brazilian admitted to AS in Spain that there was a conversation over the summer about a move to Real Madrid, but no deal happened.

Newcastle United want Moises Caicedo

In truth, it’s hard to see Newcastle selling Bruno any time soon and the feel involved would be frankly astronomical.

That means Real may have to look elsewhere for midfield reinforcements in 2023.

Real need to think about a future without Toni Kroos and Luka Modric and may chase a young player to compete with Eduardo Camavinga and Aurelien Tchouameni.

Defensa Central now report that Real Madrid are keen on Brighton and Hove Albion talent Moises Caicedo.

The Ecuadorian has excelled in the Premier League this season and looks set for a frankly enormous future.

Caicedo, 21, has only played 20 Premier League games but is already attracting lofty interest.

Caicedo is listed alongside Bruno – as well as the likes of Jude Bellingham, Lovro Majer and Enzo Fernández – in Real’s midfield pursuit.

The irony here is that reports from The Mirror claim that Newcastle want Caicedo too.

That report suggests that Brighton want a staggering £85million for Caicedo and Newcastle are right in the mix for his signature.

It may be that Newcastle are eyeing Caicedo in case Bruno goes, but there would surely be no plans to sell the Brazilian; if the Magpies want Caicedo, they likely want him alongside Bruno rather than instead of him.

Newcastle are an emerging force and managing to keep Bruno out of Real Madrid’s hands would be a statement in itself.

Yet to then go and beat Real to Caicedo too? That would really show that Newcastle are able to challenge the elite for years to come.
