Premier League club Newcastle United is up for sale.
Alan Shearer has taken to social networking site Twitter to give his reaction to the news that Newcastle United is now officially up for sale.
A statement on Newcastle’s official website earlier today claimed that club owner Mike Ashley is ready to sell the Magpies.
Newcastle legend Shearer has posted the following message on Twitter after hearing the news:
Ashley has been the Newcastle owner for 10 years, but fans have not taken to him at all.
During his tenure at St. James’ Park, the Magpies have been relegated twice to the Championship.
Newcastle are one of the biggest clubs in England and get around 50,000 fans for their home matches.
The potential is there for the Magpies to challenge for major honours and for Champions League places in the log run.
Shearer’s tweet sums up how Newcastle fans must be feeling right now. The St. James’ Park faithful must be delighted that there will be a new owner at the club.
