Newcastle United central defender Jamaal Lascelles has shared his thoughts about the prospective takeover to The Daily Mail.

As reported by The Daily Mail, Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund (PIF) wants to buy Newcastle from current owner Mike Ashley.

The potential takeover has still not gone through, and it remains to be seen if and when it does.

Lascelles has shared his thoughts on the issue, and the 26-year-old central defender has admitted questions he has.

The defender told The Daily Mail: “It’s a tough one because as players we don’t know if it’s a positive or a negative thing.

“If people come in are they going to bring a whole new squad and a new manager? Or are they going to come in and just do up the training ground and add a few players?”

Staying positive

Newcastle are doing well this season, with the Magpies unlikely to get relegated from the Premier League and are still in the FA Cup.

While the Magpies are an established club in the Premier League, they could and should do better, given the potential they have as a club.

Perhaps if and when the proposed takeover goes through, Newcastle will get enough investment in their squad in the next two or three transfer windows to start challenging for the Europa League places.

For now, the St. James’ Park faithful should stay positive and hope for the best regarding the potential takeover.
