Newcastle United plan to make a new bid for Napoli striker Victor Osimhen in the summer transfer window, according to Corriere dello Sport.
The report in the Italian news outlet has claimed that Newcastle made an offer of €100 million (£84.16 million) for the 23-year-old striker in the January transfer window.
Newcastle’s rich owners, Public Investment Fund (PIF), failed in their quest.
However, according to the report, PIF will make a renewed effort to sign Osimhen when the summer transfer window opens.
Could Victor Osimhen join Newcastle United?
In our view, if Newcastle make a big offer for Osimhen again in the summer transfer window, then it is very likely that they will be able to sign him, especially as it now looks likely that they will retain their Premier League status for next season.
Newcastle managed to sign quality players such as Bruno Guimaraes and Kieran Trippier in the January transfer window despite the (then) real risk of getting relegated from the Premier League.

Newcastle are just starting their brand new project, and Osimhen will know that he will be able to play a big role.
Moreover, Osimhen is only 23, which means that the striker could eventually move to a bigger club if he does well at Newcastle for two or three seasons.
The Nigeria international striker has scored nine goals in 16 Serie A starts for Napoli so far this season.
Osimhen scored 10 goals and gave three assists in 16 league starts last season.
