Newcastle United want Pepe and Evanilson as they eye a double raid on Portuguese giants Porto before the end of the transfer window.
The Magpies produced an impressive performance in their 3-3 draw with Manchester City on Sunday evening, showcasing their credentials for a top eight finish.
Eddie Howe has this Newcastle team moving in the right direction but he still needs new faces in attack.
Another winger and striker are wanted at Newcastle with the hope of easing the burden on Allan Saint-Maximin and Callum Wilson – two players who excelled against City.
A host of names have now been linked in both areas but Newcastle could launch a raid on Porto to fill both roles.
Newcastle United want Pepe and Evanilson
Portuguese newspaper Jornal de Noticias report that Newcastle sent a scout to watch Porto in action against Sporting on Saturday.
Porto ran out 3-0 winners in a convincing victory – and Newcastle were seemingly eyeing two players.
It’s stated that Newcastle fancy both Pepe and Evanilson, two Brazilian stars thriving in the Porto side.
Evanilson scored the opening goal of the game whilst Pepe featured on the right flank in Porto’s major win.
Newcastle were allegedly watching both players but prying them away from Porto isn’t going to be easy.
Jornal de Noticias report that Pepe would cost the full €70million (£60million) release clause in his contract.
That’s twice the €35million (£30million) Newcastle offered for Pepe earlier this summer, but the Magpies have retained their interest.
Pepe is a very quick winger who joined Porto from Gremio last summer and could provide the natural right-sided threat Newcastle want.
As for Evanilson, he would cost even more. The Brazilian attacker has a huge €100million (£85million) release clause in his deal and Porto would likely want the full amount.
Evanilson hit 21 goals in 46 games for Porto last season having previously shown promise on loan at Fluminense in his native Brazil.
The 22-year-old looks set for stardom but Newcastle would face a huge outlay to sign him.
£145million for Pepe and Evanilson would be massive for Newcastle, but we just can’t see how those deals happen unless Porto reduce their asking prices.
