Newcastle United’s striker search has taken them to Bayer Leverkusen star Patrik Schick – but he will cost the Magpies around £50million.

Newcastle continue to be linked with strikers given that Callum Wilson is on the sidelines and Eddie Howe lacks another goal threat.

A host of forwards are being touted to Newcastle, and Leverkusen star Schick is now on the radar.

Sky Sports report that Newcastle fancy signing Schick, but Leverkusen are demanding a staggering £50million.

That allegedly makes a deal unlikely, given that Newcastle need to spend in other areas too.

Schick has been in blistering form this season, smashing 17 goals in just 15 Bundesliga games.

For context, Newcastle as a team have managed just 19 goals in 19 Premier League games.

Schick made headlines at Euro 2020 with a stunning goal against Scotland, lobbing David Marshall from the halfway line.

Schick has taken that form into this season, and at 25 he appears to be realising the potential he showed at Sampdoria.

The Czech hitman has been branded an ‘absolute dream’ by now-Bayern Munich boss Julian Nagelsmann, having worked together at RB Leipzig.

Schick would be an exciting capture for Newcastle, but that £50million price tag could prevent a move.
