Newcastle United are said to be looking to bring in strikers Danny Ings and Salomon Rondon.

If Newcastle United can bring in Danny Ings alongside Salomon Rondon over the remainder of the transfer window then Mike Ashley may just be able to rescue some credibility after a disastrous summer for him so far.

Ashley has come under fierce criticism from Newcastle fans, after seemingly failing to back Rafael Benitez in the transfer window.

Benitez has publicly expressed frustrations with Newcastle’s lack of movement in the transfer window, with the Magpies missing out on a number of leading targets.

Ashley is now facing a backlash of Newcastle fans, who are fearful that Benitez could step aside after failing to be backed again.

However, if Rondon and Ings do arrive, then Benitez will surely feel slightly more satisfied.

Although the double-deal still wouldn’t make Ashley a hero at Newcastle, it would at least show some signs of progress.

The Sun claims that Newcastle are looking to bring in both Ings and Rondon, as Benitez aims to improve his striking options.

And that transfer move may just ease the pressure on Ashley, and build some much needed positivity around St. James’ Park for the season ahead.
