Nottingham Forest are interested in Noah Okafor as they join Newcastle United in the race to sign the Red Bull Salzburg talent.

Forest have clinched promotion back to the Premier League for the first time in more than 20 years.

As you can imagine, Forest are now being linked with a plethora of potential signings.

Some seem a little far-fetched, some seem like signings Forest may actually chase this summer.

Today has brought another rumour as Forest are allegedly keen on Red Bull Salzburg attacker Okafor.

Nottingham Forest are interested in Noah Okafor

Swiss news outlet Nau report that Forest are very interested in signing Okafor this summer.

Forest’s scouting department have allegedly identified Okafor as a prime target to bolster Steve Cooper’s attacking options.

Okafor, 22, joined Salzburg from the Basel ranks back in January 2020.

The versatile attacker can play as a striker or on either flank, offering great flexibility just like Brennan Johnson.

Okafor enjoyed a great season for Salzburg, racking up 14 goals and 10 assists in 32 appearances across all competitions.

Forest will want to keep hold of Johnson but you can certainly see how Okafor could be viewed as his long-term successor.

Forest may not be alone in the race for Okafor though.

TEAMtalk reported in January that Newcastle were eyeing up a move to sign Okafor.

That didn’t happen in January but Okafor was open to a move and Newcastle were given plenty of encouragement.

Newcastle may still have Okafor on their radar but having stayed in the Premier League they may have loftier targets now.

Forest may now hope to swoop in and secure Okafor this summer, making a real statement of intent by signing one of Salzburg’s top young talents.
