Newcastle United want Nick Pope as their search for a new goalkeeper leads them towards the Burnley shot-stopper.
The Magpies do have Martin Dubravka but this may be a chance to bring in a new stopper to upgrade on the Slovakian international.
Karl Darlow and Freddie Woodman are set to leave Newcastle this summer and that means a new goalkeeper will be needed.
Bernd Leno and Dean Henderson are just a couple of the names mentioned of late but Newcastle could now go for another England-based goalkeeper.
Newcastle United want Nick Pope
Sky Sports now report that Newcastle are turning their attention towards Pope as a potential signing this summer.
It’s claimed that Pope is now likely to leave Burnley after their relegation from the Premier League.
Pope is understood to be keen on returning to the top flight in order to secure his place in England’s World Cup squad later this year.
Pope, 30, has become one of the Premier League’s top goalkeepers during six superb years with Burnley.
Hailed as ‘incredible’ by Jamie Redknapp in May, Pope was a key reason why Burnley had a chance of staying in the Premier League on the final day of the season.

It’s no great surprise that Pope is attracting major Premier League interest and West Ham United have been linked with a move.
Yet It’s now Newcastle who could make their move for Pope just as rumours link West Ham loanee Alphonse Areola with the Magpies.
It may well be that Pope becomes the top target for whichever club miss out on Areola this summer.
Pope would likely cost more and would demand more first-team football than Areola given his World Cup aspirations.
A starting role at Newcastle seems more likely right now with Pope certainly seen as an improvement on Dubravka, even if there are questions about his ability to play out from the back.
