Newcastle should be looking at Arsenal’s Danny Welbeck.

Newcastle United may have failed in their pursuit of Daniel Sturridge, but they should be setting their sights on his former England under-21 strike partner instead.
Danny Welbeck remains at Arsenal, not that you would know it based on his struggles over the past two seasons.
Welbeck has been unfortunate with injuries, but he has also failed to hit form too on a consistent basis.

Arsenal are now pinning their hopes on Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, and Welbeck is becoming a forgotten figure behind Alexandre Lacazette in the pecking order.
He has made 16 Premier League appearances this season, starting seven, scoring three times.
Welbeck is now at real risk of missing out a World Cup place, with manager Gareth Southgate making clear he will not pick players who are not performing regularly.

If Welbeck is not pushing for a move it would be a big mistake, and Newcastle would be smart to try and bring him in.
Welbeck could be available on a potential loan deal deal and he would be an improvement on Newcastle’s current options.
The former Manchester United trainee is 27 and should be nearing his peak. Rafa Benitez should be making an approach with a view to try and get him back to his best – as this won’t be happening at Arsenal where he will be sat on the bench.
