Newcastle United almost signed Cenk Tosun in the summer, but Everton have now moved for the Besiktas man.

Newcastle United could be left even more frustrated at missing out on Cenk Tosun last summer, if he completes a move to Everton.
The Turkish international striker has attracted the interest of a number of Premier League clubs, and Everton were far from the first to identify his talents.

Newcastle were heavily linked with Tosun in the summer, as reported by the Daily Mail.
However, Newcastle refused to pay the £18 million asking price Besiktas wanted at that stage, and that seems to have been a mistake.

Tosun has scored regularly this term, and his price tag has now risen by £7 million.
And if Tosun hits the ground running at Everton, Newcastle are sure to regret not pushing harder to sign him when they had a chance, as having a goalscorer in their squad would have been a major boost to Rafael Benitez’s side’s survival chances.
