Newcastle United midfielder Sean Longstaff caught the eye against Hibernian.

Newcastle United midfielder Sean Longstaff has told the club’s official website that he was being mocked on the substitute’s bench last night, after the travelling support created a new chant for him.

Newcastle won 3-1 with Longstaff getting on the scoresheet against Hibernian.

But it seems that Newcastle’s new chant for Longstaff might need some work.

Magpies fans wanted to hail the Longstaff brothers, with Matty also getting on the pitch later on in the contest, and created a chant for them similar to the ‘Yaya and Kolo Toure’ song which was made famous by Manchester City fans.

However, Newcastle’s players seem to feel that the chant made need some refining before it works.

“I heard it on the bench. I was getting pelters from Fabian [Schar] and Fred [Woodman], saying your name doesn’t work and they should just leave it with Matty,” Longstaff joked.

Longstaff’s brother, Matty, has been one of the stars of Newcastle’s pre-season.

The central midfielder has pushed himself into first-team contention, after a series of excellent displays.

Sean, meanwhile, looks almost certain to start in Newcastle’s first game of the campaign against Arsenal in two weekends’ time.
