Newcastle United are still searching for a director of football – but there are conflicting claims emerging about Michael Emenalo.
Newcastle have a new manager in place with Eddie Howe now in charge at St James’ Park.
New owners PIF still need to find a new director of football though and have been linked with various targets.
Former Chelsea director Emenalo has emerged as the top target for Newcastle after holding talks in Saudi Arabia.
Emenalo signed a host of quality players for Chelsea, including Thibaut Courtois, Eden Hazard and Kevin De Bruyne.
The Telegraph reported on Saturday that Emenalo had rejected the offer to become Newcastle’s director of football.
It’s stated that the Nigerian rejected the job after talks with Amanda Staveley.

However, Staveley’s husband and part of the PCP Capital Partners Mehrdad Ghodoussi has clarified the situation.
Ghodoussi claims Emenalo was never offered the job in the first place, so hasn’t rejected an offer from Newcastle.
The Chronicle claim that Emenalo is open to restarting talks with Newcastle, so there may still be a chance for him to arrive on Tyneside.
