Scott McTominay is on fire in front of goal and Newcastle United may need to rethink their summer transfer plans.
Who could have really predicted Scotland beating Spain on Tuesday night?
Steve Clarke’s men turned in a superb performance to take down Spain at Hampden Park with McTominay the hero.
The Manchester United man scored twice to secure the 2-0 win, continuing his fine form.
McTominay also scored twice against Cyprus at the weekend, making it four goals in just a matter of days.
McTominay is toast of Scotland right now but Newcastle may be wondering if they have got him all wrong.

Newcastle United may need a Scott McTominay rethink
McTominay appears to be a prime target for Newcastle this summer.
The Telegraph reported earlier in March that McTominay is open to joining Newcastle having been impressed with them this season.
That report added that Eddie Howe, Steve Nickson and Dan Ashworth are all in agreement about going for the Scot.
Interestingly, The Athletic suggested in March that Newcastle view McTominay as a holding midfielder.
They claimed that Howe likes McTominay’s physicality and he was on the list alongside other defensive midfielders to play in the number six role.
McTominay may not actually be suited to that role though, even if his physical profile lends itself to the classic anchor man role.
McTominay actually seems to thrive when allowed to get forward and arrive late in the box.
Erik ten Hag has even used McTominay in a fake target man role, if that’s something that we can now claim exists.
The two-goal showing against Spain shows that McTominay may actually be wasted in a holding midfield role.
Maybe Howe and co think they can mould McTominay into that position, but it feels like that would be holding him back.
It feels a little like Newcastle have viewed McTominay in the wrong light and may need to either move on to another target or play him further forward to get the best out of him.
