Newcastle United are keen on Manu Kone but Borussia Monchengladbach have no plans to sell their prized midfielder in January.
That’s according to the Daily Mail, who report that Newcastle have taken a liking to Kone as they consider midfield additions.
Chelsea ace Jorginho and Nice talent Khephren Thuram are two other midfield targets Newcastle are interested in.
Kone is an interesting prospect but it’s suggested that Gladbach simply don’t want to sell him during the January window.
That tallies up with what Sport1 reported earlier this month, as they stated that Gladbach view Kone as completely ‘irreplaceable’.
Newcastle will seemingly have to throw enormous money at Gladbach to even get them to consider selling Kone in January.

Newcastle target Kone has also been linked with Liverpool
Kone, 21, spent time in the ranks of Paris FC and Boulogne-Billancourt before heading to Toulouse back in 2016.
The talented midfielder showed so much promise with Toulouse that Gladbach pounced with a deal in 2021.
Kone’s ascent has continued in Germany, turning in consistently excellent performances for Gladbach.
Kone is a truly exceptional box-to-box midfielder and he could bring some real quality to the Newcastle engine room.
The Frenchman ranks 11th for successful dribbles in the Bundesliga this season, tied on 22 with Jamal Musiala – a player who dazzled at the World Cup with his dribbling ability.
Yet Kone can also break up play, offering an option in midfielder that can protect the defence and also get his side started on the attack.
Newcastle aren’t the only team to have noticed Kone’s talent and potential though.
Sky Sports reported in August that Liverpool were eyeing up Gladbach midfielder Manu Kone as a possible midfield addition.
Newcastle may hope that Liverpool are so preoccupied with deals for Jude Bellingham or Enzo Fernandez that they can swoop in for Kone.
That may have to wait until summer, but Kone is a name for Newcastle fans to keep an eye on heading into 2023.
