Newcastle United want to sign Shakhtar Donetsk winger Manor Solomon during the January transfer window – particularly interesting after links to Paulo Fonseca.
That’s according to a new report from news outlet Walla, based in Solomon’s home country of Israel.
They claim that Newcastle are desperate to invest in January after finally securing their big Saudi Arabian takeover.
Solomon is one player they want to sign, believing that he won’t be too expensive to prise away from Shakhtar.
Who is Newcastle target Manor Solomon?
The 22-year-old winger joined Shakhtar from Maccabi Petah Tikva in January 2019.
In 95 games for the Ukrainian giants, Solomon has recorded 19 goals and nine assists.
Small, quick and a fine dribbler, Solomon has been likened to Real Madrid star Eden Hazard.
Arsenal wanted Solomon earlier this year, but failed to make a move – and Newcastle could now swoop in to bring him to England after all.

Solomon knows Paulo Fonseca well
An interesting note here is that Solomon knows Paulo Fonseca – the man who could become Newcastle United manager.
90Min claim that Fonseca is in the final three candidates to become Newcastle boss. The Daily Mail even claim that PIF wanted Fonseca to become Newcastle manager last year.
Out of work after leaving Roma, Fonseca could really excite Newcastle fans with his attacking approach to the game.
Fonseca coached Solomon at Shakhtar, calling the Israeli talent ‘wonderful’ during their time together in Ukraine.
News of Newcastle wanting Solomon just as Fonseca is heavily linked with becoming their manager seems almost too coincidental, and the pair could end up reuniting at St James’ Park.
