Newcastle United now face a battle with Manchester United for the signing of Lyon striker Moussa Dembele at the end of the season.
That’s according to the Daily Mail, who claim that United are looking towards Dembele as a potential summer addition to their attack.
Edinson Cavani and Jesse Lingard are both leaving whilst question marks surround the futures of Cristiano Ronaldo and Marcus Rashford.
With that in mind, United are now looking to bring in new strikers and Dembele is one of their prime targets.
Dembele is out of contract in 2023 and Lyon are allegedly willing to sell for around £25million before he can leave for nothing next year.
That could be an appealing price for United, but they surely won’t be alone in the race for the Frenchman’s signature this summer.
Newcastle United held talks for Dembele in January having negotiated with Lyon for a number of potential additions.
Bruno Guimaraes arrived from Lyon but talks were also held for Jason Denayer and Dembele, who figure to still be on Newcastle’s wish list.
Newcastle will be looking to add another striker to Chris Wood and Callum Wilson this summer and Dembele may well fit the bill.

The 25-year-old has hit nine goals in 19 Ligue 1 games this season whilst he has always shown the strength to play as a number nine alongside a turn of pace to get in behind.
Dembele was even compared to Didier Drogba by Brendan Rodgers having become an absolute sensation with Celtic.
It’s therefore no great surprise that Dembele is attracting interest, and United may think their name value will make them favourites.
Yet with Newcastle having huge money to play with and having Dembele’s former Lyon teammate Guimaraes at the club, the Magpies pose a very real threat in this transfer race.
