Newcastle United are now interested in Gabriel Jesus as they look to rival Arsenal for the signing of the Manchester City striker.
Newcastle dealt Arsenal one huge blow on Monday night by beating them 2-0 at St James’ Park.
Ben White’s own goal and a strike from one-time Arsenal target Bruno Guimaraes handed the Gunners a dismal night on Tyneside.
That now means that Arsenal are unlikely to quality for the Champions League having fallen two points behind Tottenham with one game to play.
Missing out on the top four could heavily impact Arsenal’s transfer business, with moves for players like Jesus potentially in jeopardy.
Newcastle United are now interested in Gabriel Jesus
Reports of Arsenal’s interest in signing Jesus have been rife for weeks now.
Just days ago, Football London reported that Arsenal remain confident of signing Jesus after talks with his representatives.
Pep Guardiola may think that Jesus is a ‘fantastic’ striker but his contract at City expires in 2023.
That means this summer may be the ideal time to sell the Brazilian and Arsenal are seemingly at the front of the queue.
However, Calciomercato now claim that Newcastle United have joined the race to sign Jesus.

AC Milan, Atletico Madrid, Barcelona, Bayern Munich and Juventus are also thought to be keen, with the Italian media all over the tale of Jesus and his future.
Newcastle have already left Arsenal reeling with Monday’s result, but swooping in to land Jesus would be something else.
The Brazilian striker has hit eight goals and eight assists in 27 Premier League games this season.
That’s a pretty decent record and Jesus may now fancy moving on to play a starting role elsewhere.
Newcastle can’t afford Champions League football though and whilst their project is exciting, convincing Jesus to join could be difficult.
Arsenal will hope that their weeks of groundwork put them in the box seat, but Newcastle are now a major threat.
