Newcastle United are now considering a move to make Olympiacos boss Pedro Martins their new manager after Steve Bruce’s exit.
That’s according to The Times, who claim that Martins is a hot new candidate for the Newcastle job.
Lucien Favre, Paulo Fonseca, Steven Gerrard and Erik ten Hag are wanted too, but Martins being on the list is a new development.
Fonseca has told friends he wants the job but could end up losing out to compatriot Martins.
Newcastle’s managerial decision will come soon, but Graeme Jones looks set for one more game in caretaker charge.
Who is Newcastle target Pedro Martins?
Martins may not be a household name to many in England having spent his career so far in Portugal and Greece.
The 51-year-old started out with the likes of Uniao Lamas, Lusitania, Espinho and Maritimo B before stepping up to the Maritimo senior job.

After four years there, Martins moved on to Rio Ave in 2014, and then to Vitoria Guimaraes in 2016.
Martins’ work with Vitoria ended up landing him the Olympiacos job in 2018, and he hasn’t looked back.
With 121 wins from 180 games, Maritns has won two league titles with Olympiacos.
An attack-minded manager, Martins has won 289 of his 609 games in management but Newcastle fans may wonder if he really has the credentials for such a big job.
