A rumoured January target for Newcastle United, Sturridge is heading back to Liverpool after West Bromwich Albion’s relegation.

Bookmaker Bet Victor has opened a market on Daniel Sturridge’s next club – and made Newcastle United favourites to sign the striker, who is returning to Liverpool following a loan spell at West Bromwich Albion.
Sturridge played under Rafa Benitez, the Newcastle manager, briefly at Chelsea and was a rumoured target for the north east club in January.

With Islam Slimani’s exit leaving a hole in the Magpies’ attack, there is every chance that Benitez will revive his interest in the 28-year-old – whose failure to keep West Brom in the Premier League looks to have scuppered any chance of a permanent move to the Hawthorns, and keeps his Liverpool future uncertain.
The latest odds appear to reflect that view, with Newcastle 6/1 front runners for Sturridge’s signature – ahead of 8/1 Derby County, who must surely gain promotion this season to be in with a shout.

The 2017-18 season was another in which Sturridge struggled with injuries, restricting him to just 547 minutes of Premier League football for Liverpool and West Brom combined.
