Frank de Boer will not leave Ajax for Premier League club Newcastle United, claims his agent Guido Albers.
Reported Newcastle United managerial candidate Frank de Boer will not step down at Ajax, his agent has told Sky Sports.
According to Sky Sports, De Boer is a candidate for the Newcastle job, but it seems that he will not be available in the summer.
“Frank has informed Ajax he will stay next season,” Guido Albers told Sky Sports. “Frank will not be leaving the club in the summer. There have been many approaches from other clubs, not Newcastle, but he is happy at Ajax.”
It seems that Newcastle have made no approaches for the services of De Boer, who has been at Ajax since 2010.
The former Barcelona and Rangers star has won the Eredivisie title four times as a manager, and it would be a step-down for him if he were to leave Ajax and move to Newcastle in the summer.
This is the second time in a week that a reported candidate for the Newcastle managerial job has ruled himself out.
Derby County manager Steve McClaren told BBC Sport on Wednesday that he has no plans to become the head coach of Newcastle (click here to read more).
John Carver is currently in charge of the Magpies, but his contract runs out at the end of the season.
Newcastle are in real danger of going down to the Championship, as they are only two points above the relegation zone and have lost their last eight Premier League games.
