Newcastle United are said to be keen on Danny Rose, who once had a loan spell at Sunderland back in 2012/13.

Newcastle United linked Danny Rose has previously suggested that he owes Sunderland a massive debt of gratitude.
Rose was sent out on loan by Tottenham Hotspur to Sunderland during his younger years, and it was his temporary spell at the Stadium of Light which really helped him make the grade.
Rose thrived at Sunderland, and it seems that he could be set to return to the North East this summer now Newcastle are interested.
But Newcastle fans may not be best pleased to read that Rose has such a special connection with their man rivals.
“I can’t thank them enough for what they’ve done for me and for a club to give you that chance and believe in you means the world,” he said to the Sunderland Echo in 2016.

“I still try to go up there and watch games – I went to the game against Everton where they won to stay up – and it’s a good three and a half hours from London, but I don’t think there’s any other way I can say thank you to Sunderland.
“It’s something that I’ve done before and I’ll keep doing whenever I get the chance.”
Despite Rose’s past comments, Newcastle would still be foolish to turn down the chance of signing Rose, if it does come about.
Rose would be a significant improvement on Newcastle’s current options at left-back, and a signing of his calibre would help bring some much needed positivity back to St. James’ Park.
