Newcastle United and Leicester City are interested in signing Abdul Mumin from Vitoria Guimaraes in the January transfer window, according to The Daily Mail.

Newcastle and Leicester interest in Abdul Mumin

The report has claimed that Mumin is valued at £12 million, and both Newcastle and Leicester are keen on him.

French club Lyon are keen on the Ghanaian as well.

Leicester have expressed an interest in the 23-year-old centre-back and want to sign him in the summer of 2022.

Vitoria Guimaraes are open to offers for Mumin, who is a left-sided centre-back, according to the report.

Summer transfer battle

In our view, Newcastle will have a good chance of signing Mumin in the summer of 2022 if they do not get relegated.

If Eddie Howe’s side end up in the Championship next season, then we do not think that Mumin will move to St. James’ Park.

After all, the defender will have the option to play for Leicester or Lyon.

However, if Newcastle stay up, then, in our opinion, they could be able to sign Mumin.

Newcastle have the richest owners in club football and will be able to pay Mumin a big salary.

The defender could see Newcastle as the perfect club for the next step in his career and could be tempted by the Magpies’ lofty ambitions for the future.
