Newcastle United legend Alan Shearer couldn’t resist poking fun at Sunderland’s relegation.

Newcastle United legend Alan Shearer has hit back at a Sunderland supporter who decided to poke fun at the manner of his retirement.
It was 12 years ago to the day that Shearer player his last match for Newcastle, after injury forced him to retire.
Shearer damaged his ankle against Sunderland, after a challenge from Julio Arca.
And one Sunderland supporter decided to tweet Shearer suggesting that Arca had ended his career.
However, now is perhaps not the best time for Sunderland fans to be taking on the Newcastle legend.
The Black Cats were relegated into League One yesterday, after failing to beat Burton, which has given Newcastle plenty of ammunition to throw at them.

And Shearer hit back on Twitter, saying: “Do you follow me just to be a d*** or because you want to read about @premierleague football? #enjoyleagueone.”
Newcastle supporters obviously found the tweet hilarious, as large portions of the St. James’ Park crowd have been relentlessly taking digs at Sunderland since their relegation to League One was confirmed.
Newcastle have now put two divisions between them and their local rivals, and it could be some time before the Tyne-Wear derby takes place in the league again.
