Newcastle United want Jack Harrison but the Leeds United winger is happy to stay at Elland Road and push towards the England squad for the World Cup.

Leeds needed somebody to step up in the final third following Raphinha’s move to Barcelona and Harrison has certainly done that.

Harrison has registered an assist in each Premier League game this season and also scored the third in Leeds’ 3-0 win over Chelsea on Sunday.

Hailed as ‘outstanding’ by Don Goodman on Sunday, Harrison looks primed for a huge season.

The wide man has started the season in blistering form and Newcastle United would still love to bring him up to Tyneside this summer.

Newcastle United want Jack Harrison

Newcastle have been linked with Harrison for much of the summer but haven’t exactly made progress with their pursuit.

Sky Sports claim that Newcastle have failed with a second bid for Harrison after lodging a first approach worth around £19million.

The second bid was an increased offer but still nowhere near enough to convince Leeds to sell.

The report adds that Harrison is actually happy at Leeds and would want to stay at Elland Road.

The reason for that is that Harrison wants to make sure he is playing regular first-team football in order to impress England boss Gareth Southgate.

Harrison seemingly believes that his form can take him into the England squad and doesn’t want any thing to break that momentum.

If Newcastle are prepared to pay big money for Harrison, you would assume that he would be given a huge role at St James’ Park.

It’s still a risk for Harrison though, especially with Newcastle progressing quickly and also signing Joao Pedro – a striker who can play out wide.

At Leeds, Harrison is a key man and looks set to start most games under Jesse Marsch after a blistering start to the campaign.

Whether England are considering Harrison is another matter, given that Southgate has a number of wide options at his disposal.

Still, Harrison’s stance is seemingly to stay at Leeds and keep impressing, leaving Newcastle to look elsewhere.
