Newcastle United’s hopes of securing Kieran Trippier have been boosted with Atletico Madrid now seeking to find a replacement for the England ace.

Guillem Balague has already claimed that Newcastle have opened talks to sign Trippier in January.

The Mirror have added that Newcastle are confident of bringing Trippier back to England in next month’s transfer window.

The Sunday Mirror (05/12, p65) now claim that Atletico are preparing for Trippier to go in January or in the summer.

Atletico have allegedly started looking at Norwich City’s Max Aarons to replace Trippier.

Borussia Dortmund are also keen on Aarons, but Atletico are viewing him as the man to take Trippier’s spot.

Trippier played under Eddie Howe at Burnley and may fancy a reunion with the new Magpies boss.

That would be a huge coup for Newcastle’s new era given Trippier’s experience at the top level with Tottenham and Atletico.

Having also impressed with England at Euro 2020, Trippier has shown he isn’t slowing down any time soon.

In fact, the 31-year-old may bring the experience that Newcastle need in their battle against the drop.
