Newcastle United’s new owners have asked Harry Redknapp for his verdict on their managerial pursuit – and gave a glowing reference on Eddie Howe.
That’s according to 90Min, who claim that PIF are seeking opinions from a number of key figures in English football.
Redknapp is one man they have spoken to, seeking to gather opinions on potential managerial appointments at St James’ Park.
Unsurprisingly, Redknapp has thrown his backing behind former Bournemouth boss Eddie Howe.
Redknapp and Howe have been close for a long time due to their association with Bournemouth.
With Howe out of work and being considered by PIF, Redknappy has told Newcastle that Howe could be their man.
Redknapp’s past praise of Newcastle target Howe
Redknapp has strong ties to Bournemouth and even worked as an advisor there during Howe’s time in charge.
When Howe was in the running for the Celtic job, Redknapp couldn’t speak highly enough of him.

Redknapp told The Sun that he thinks Howe is ‘fantastic’ and a ‘class act’.
He even added that Howe is ‘very bright’ and ‘clever’, praising how much research he does into the game.
Redknapp did though question how the 43-year-old would fare moving away from Bournemouth all the way up to Scotland.
Newcastle would be a major move away from the South Coast, but Howe would surely jump at the chance to be part of their new era.
