Newcastle United are back in for Joao Pedro once again as they eye up the Watford attacker for a summer move to Tyneside.

That’s according to The Athletic, who suggest that Newcastle are tracking the Brazilian’s progress.

It’s unclear if Joao Pedro is a top target for the summer but Newcastle are certainly looking at him closely.

The report does though add that Italian side AC Milan are very keen on signing Joao Pedro this summer.

Milan may not be able to afford the Watford man though with his contract at Vicarage Road only expiring in 2028.

That gives Newcastle a potential boost if they do make a move to sign the 21-year-old at the end of the season.

Newcastle could finally sign Joao Pedro

Joao Pedro was a key name for Newcastle fans during the summer transfer window of 2022.

Fabrizio Romano claimed just over a week before the summer deadline that Joao Pedro to Newcastle was a ‘done deal’ and gave the move his customary ‘here we go’.

The Magpies ended up pivoting to sign Alexander Isak instead but didn’t end their interest there.

The Telegraph (11:41am) reported on deadline day that Newcastle actually launched a ‘late attempt’ to resurrect a deal for Joao Pedro.

The Chronicle backed that up, suggesting that Newcastle ‘definitely’ went back in with a new move for Joao Pedro before the deadline.

Watford didn’t budge and The Athletic claimed that Newcastle’s Dan Ashworth was actually offering a swap involving Chris Wood.

Wood has now ended up at Nottingham Forest, so that move won’t be done this summer.

The Magpies could return with cash for Joao Pedro though, potentially adding another versatile goal threat to support Isak and Callum Wilson.

Wilson has struggled of late and with Joao Pedro also able to play out wide, the ‘top class’ Watford ace could finally end up at Newcastle this summer.
