Newcastle United are set to sign Joao Pedro after Watford agreed a deal worth £25million plus £5million in add-ons.

The Magpies have been chasing attacking reinforcements throughout the summer, seemingly desperate to add another goalscoring threat.

The idea has been to add a young attacker who can learn from experienced Premier League strikers in Callum Wilson and Chris Wood.

Benjamin Sesko, Armando Broja, Sekou Mara and Hugo Ekitike have all been linked but Newcastle now appear to have found their man.

Newcastle United are set to sign Joao Pedro

Newcastle have been targeting Watford attacker Joao Pedro in recent times and have failed with not one but two cash bids.

Fabrizio Romano now claims that it’s a ‘done deal’ for Joao Pedro to join Newcastle and has given the move his customary ‘here we go’ catchphrase.

Romano adds that Watford have now accepted a deal worth £25million plus £5million in add-ons, taking the deal up to £30million.

Watford will take a 10% sell-on clause as part of the deal and Joao Pedro will be signing a six-year contract with Newcastle.

The Brazilian attacker missed Watford’s 0-0 draw at Preston North End on Saturday due to injury, but has now played his final game for the Hornets.

Joao Pedro, 20, is considered to be a hugely exciting talent and was called a ‘brilliant striker’ by former Watford boss Xisco Munoz.

Formerly of Fluminense, Joao Pedro hit three goals in 28 Premier League outings last season but has so much untapped potential.

Joao Pedro can also feature in from the left flank, giving Eddie Howe some additional flexibility in the final third of the pitch.

Newcastle know this is an investment for the future and having him learn from proven strikers in Wilson and Wood is just absolutely perfect.

If Joao Pedro can kick on and improve under Eddie Howe – as many at Newcastle already have – £30million may prove to be a bargain for the young striker.
