Newcastle are closing in on Hugo Ekitike amid claims that the Reims striker has agreed a five-year contract with the Magpies.
The Magpies are expected to chase a number of signings after staying in the Premier League.
Eddie Howe coached Newcastle brilliantly and their January business will give fans hope of another positive window.
A number of names are already being linked with Newcastle and one signing could now be moving ever closer.
Newcastle are closing in on Hugo Ekitike
Newcastle were desperate to sign Hugo Ekitike in January and the Reims striker now appears to be on the verge of joining.
Fabrizio Romano has taken to Twitter to claim that Ekitike has now agreed to sign a five-year contract with Newcastle.
Romano claims that it is now just about final details between Ekitike and Newcastle, with the Magpies set to beat Borussia Dortmund to a deal.
Foot Mercato claim that the deal with Reims has been struck at around €36million with €10million in add-ons – around £31million with £8.5million in add-ons.
That’s nearly £40million being committed to signing Ekitike but Newcastle seem absolutely convinced that he is the real deal.

Compared to Kylian Mbappe, David Trezeguet and Thierry Henry, Ekitike has been French football’s big revelation.
Ekitike was on loan at Danish side Velje in the early stages of 2021 but now finds himself in demand.
That’s because Ekitike scored 10 goals in 24 Ligue 1 games this season at the age of just 19.
Hailed as ‘very special’ by Reims boss Oscar Garcia, Ekitike is being backed for stardom.
The teenager faces a huge step-up though; as mentioned, it’s only a year since Ekitike’s uneventful loan at Velje ended.
Now Ekitike could be just days away from sealing a huge move to Newcastle.
The idea will be for Ekitike to develop alongside more experienced Premier League strikers like Chris Wood and Callum Wilson.
That will ease the pressure on Ekitike, but the asking price can be huge; just ask Joelinton.
