Harry Maguire is once again being backed for a move to Newcastle United, with Aston Villa and West Ham United thrown in this time.

Newcastle fans should probably get used to hearing this one.

First it was Danny Murphy, with the pundit telling the Daily Mail that he can see Maguire joining Newcastle in the near future.

Now it’s another former England international with Stuart Pearce joining the bandwagon.

Speaking to talkSPORT, Pearce has suggested that Newcastle should be ‘all over’ trying to lure Maguire away from Manchester United.

Pearce believes that Maguire would be a ‘brilliant addition’ to any team and thinks he may just need a fresh move away from Old Trafford.

Pearce also thinks that West Ham United and Aston Villa should also be in the mix for Maguire if United show any willingness to let him go.

“If I was West Ham, if I was Newcastle, if I was Aston Villa, I’d be all over trying to get Harry Maguire out of there,” said Pearce.

“I’d be asking the question whether he’s available. He’d be a brilliant addition to a football club. He’s the right age, the right stature, right experience. He might just need another challenge now as he’s not getting regular football,” he added.

Newcastle move just seems unlikely for Harry Maguire

Eddie Howe has valued Premier League experience in his time at Newcastle manager.

Deals for Nick Pope, Dan Burn, Kieran Trippier, Matt Targett and Chris Wood have all been signed under Howe.

Maguire’s Premier League experience may stand him in good stead for Newcastle but we just can’t see a deal happening.

The Magpies spent big on a centre back over the summer with Sven Botman arriving from Lille.

Fabian Schar has been doing a great job this season as the right-sided option alongside Botman.

We just can’t see Newcastle trying to rehabilitate a player who hasn’t been good enough for Manchester United of late.

Similarly, we can’t see United wanting to potentially strengthen Newcastle, who are becoming a real rival.

The suggestion to Newcastle has some sense to it, but we can’t see his next move being to St James’ Park.
