Harrison Ashby is ‘frustrated’ with his role at West Ham United as Newcastle United consider moving to sign him in the January window.
West Ham’s right back spot appears to be a little up in the air.
Vladimir Coufal hasn’t really been at his best for a while now and Ben Johnson hasn’t quite developed as hoped.
Thilo Kehrer has played there but is more of a centre back by trade and Ashby appears to be frozen out due to his contact situation.

Harrison Ashby is ‘frustrated’ with his role at West Ham United
Scottish talent Ashby, 21, has made just two first-team appearances for West Ham this season.
Ashby seemingly isn’t being considered for senior action at West Ham given his contract stand-off.
Ashby is out of contract at the end of the season and currently looks set to leave the London Stadium.
This may be a case of Ashby not wanting to sign a new deal until he gets more playing time, and West Ham not wanting to give him more playing time until he signs a new deal.
This situation has happened many times before and Ashby now appears to be unhappy.
The Mirror (30/11, p51) claim that Ashby is ‘frustrated’ at West Ham given his lack of opportunities.
It’s added that Newcastle have now revived their interest in Ashby ahead of the January window.
The report claims that Ashby nearly joined Newcastle over the summer but actually decided to stay at West Ham.
The youngster may now regret that decision and a move to Newcastle could now come back in with a new move.
Joining Newcastle wouldn’t immediately bolster Ashby’s first-team prospects but he would be signed with the idea of being Kieran Trippier’s heir.
Learning from the England international would be enormous for a talent like Ashby and Newcastle will hope that his frustration leads to a January deal.
