Newcastle United goalkeeper Martin Dubravka saw the ball go past him five times against Leicester City at the weekend.
Newcastle were battered 5-0 at the King Power Stadium in their last outing, with their performance awful.
Steve Bruce reportedly let rip at Newcastle’s players in the dressing room after the game, as claimed by the Telegraph.
And Dubravka admits that spirits had not improved by the time that Newcastle flew home from the Midlands.
Newcastle players are usually in a lively mood on their journeys back to the North East, but Dubravka claims that this particularly flight was silent.
“Nobody spoke on the flight home, it was silent,” Dubravka, who was linked with a £12 million move away from St. James’ Park this summer (Daily Mail), said.
“We usually chat away to each other and play games but there none of that. It was horrible and quiet. I sat at the back of the plane and spoke to nobody. I had no words. I just kept replaying the game in my own mind.
“It’s hard to forget. I heard how the other boys described the performance and I agree with them all. I’m right at the back (on the pitch) and I can see everything. It didn’t work and wasn’t good enough. It was just embarrassing.”
Newcastle’s defence has taken much of the flak for their horror show against Leicester, but Dubravka didn’t cover himself in glory either.
The Slovakian international let in Jamie Vardy’s shot very easily for Leicester’s second, which was the cue for Newcastle to collapse.
The Magpies went on to concede another three goals in the second half of the contest, as they struggled to contain the Foxes.
Newcastle are next in action against Manchester United on Sunday at St. James’ Park.
