Middlesbrough are reportedly keen to sign Newcastle United goalkeeper Karl Darlow.

According to reports from The Northern Echo, Middlesbrough have made Newcastle United goalkeeper Karl Darlow their first choice target this summer.

Garry Monk reportedly has considered Sheffield United’s Keiran Westwood and Leeds United’s Rob Green this summer, while there have also been suggestions that Darren Randolph could be an option following Joe Hart’s move to West Ham United.

However, it is Darlow whom Monk really wants to have in his squad for the upcoming season. The Boro manager is looking for another option to Dimi Konstantopoulos following the departures of Victor Valdes and Brad Guzan.

Boro already have had an offer in the region of £5 million for the 26-year-old rejected. Newcastle are reportedly holding out for a fee around £8 million. The report claims that Boro are aiming for further discussions to brokering a deal.

Darlow made 34 appearances in the Championship last season, but Rafael Benitez is still keen to sign a top goalkeeper this summer.

Boro have been busy in the transfer market and have signed Britt Assombalonga, Martin Braithwaite, Cyrus Christie and Jonny Howson already.
