A big-name manager has rejected the chance to become the next Newcastle United boss after an approach from Mehrdad Ghodoussi.
That’s according to The Independent, who claim that Ghodoussi has become ‘quite excited’ about the ‘glamour of wheeling and dealing’.
Ghodoussi, the husband of Amanda Staveley, leads the PCP Capital Partners alongside his wife.
The Iranian businessman is now heavily involved at Newcastle, and is taking an active role in finding a new manager.
Newcastle haven’t even sacked Steve Bruce yet, but that move is expected soon.
Newcastle fail to attract big-name manager
It’s stated that one big-name manager has been targeted by Ghodoussi.
However, the mystery manager had ‘no interest’ in becoming Newcastle boss and was ‘puzzled’ by Ghodoussi’s approach.
There are some big-name managers out of work right now.

Antonio Conte and Zinedine Zidane would make the most sense in terms of being a huge target but maybe feeling a little above Newcastle right now.
We would guess the man in question is one of those two, with few others having their kind of reputation.
Maybe Newcastle need to set their expectations a little lower. After all, they are still in a relegation battle right now.
A new manager will come soon enough, but this rejection may just temper Ghodoussi’s excitement a little.
