Gary Neville has praised Newcastle United whilst admitting that he has completely changed his attitude about going to watch the Magpies.

Newcastle faced Southampton on Sunday afternoon with Eddie Howe chasing another win.

That’s exactly what Newcastle got as Miguel Almiron continued his ridiculous form with the opening goal of the game.

Chris Wood and Joe Willock made it 3-0 and whilst Romain Perraud pulled one back, Bruno Guimaraes ensured a three-goal winning margin as Newcastle won 4-1.

Newcastle have now won four Premier League games in a row and six of the last seven, dropping just two points from a possible 21.

The Magpies find themselves in the top four and will head into the World Cup break in a great position for European qualification.

Newcastle’s takeover has certainly helped matters – both and off the pitch – but Eddie Howe is frankly working wonders,

Howe has turned the likes of Almiron, Joelinton and Sean Longstaff around at Newcastle and the Magpies are a major threat to the so-called ‘big six’.

Pundit Gary Neville has now had his say on Newcastle and how he feels about going to see the Magpies in action.

Speaking on the Gary Neville Podcast, Neville suggested that going to see Newcastle during the Mike Ashley years was more of an inconvenience than anything else.

Neville admitted that if he got his fixtures through for Sky Sports duty and he was being sent to Newcastle, he would feel somewhat deflated because the Magpies were so flat and without ambition.

Yet with Newcastle fans now having hope again and a real connection between players and supporters and Neville doesn’t feel quite so downhearted anymore.

Neville believes that ‘the atmosphere is back’ at Newcastle and feels the Magpies are doing ‘really really well’ at the moment.

“When you went up there for those years, it was like… ughhhh,” said Neville. “You’d get your fixtures through and you’ve got Newcastle versus so-and-so and you’d think… well, I don’t feel like that anymore about getting Newcastle games because that atmosphere is back.”

“I have to say, they’re doing really really well, they’re doing really really well,” he added.
