Newcastle United are set to sign Garang Kuol with the Australian press claiming he will earn an ‘eye-watering’ £25,000-a-week at St James’ Park.

Newcastle did some very smart business over the summer, landing the likes of Nick Pope, Sven Botman and Alexander Isak.

Dan Ashworth is also looking towards the future though and some young talents have been heading to Tyneside.

Scottish goalkeeper Jude Smith, Irish defender Alex Murphy and English talent Jordan Hackett have joined from East Fife, Galway United and Tottenham Hotspur respectively.

Newcastle have other irons in the fire too and it looks like they’re close to securing a signing.

Newcastle United are set to sign Garang Kuol

beIN Sports in Australia report that Newcastle are closing in on the signing of Central Coast Mariners wonderkid Garang Kuol.

It’s stated that Kuol has agreed personal terms with Newcastle and will sign a four-year deal at the Magpies.

The report claims that Kuol will earn an ‘eye-watering’ £25,000-a-week, which is a hefty wage packet for a 17-year-old.

Kuol will allegedly stay with Central Coast Mariners until January, then officially become a Newcastle player before being loaned out.

Kuol doesn’t quite qualify for a work permit just yet but he is set to land a first Australia cap soon and possibly even head to the World Cup later this year.

That would certainly boost Kuol’s hopes of a work permit and ultimately, Premier League stardom.

Kuol, who was born in Egypt and can play for South Sudan, turns 18 on Thursday and is attracting enormous praise.

Barcelona boss Xavi Hernandez hailed Kuol as an ‘unbelievable’ talent having turned out for The A-League All Stars against Barcelona earlier this year.

A talented young striker with four goals in nine games for Central Coast Mariners, Kuol is being backed for an enormous future – and that future looks set to be with Newcastle.
