Newcastle United are set to sign Garang Kuol ahead of a host of top European clubs who all want the Central Coast Mariners talent.

The Magpies are looking to recruit for the future as well as the present.

That was clear over the summer as Newcastle added a number of young players for their development ranks.

Jude Smith, Alex Murphy, Charlie McArthur and Jordan Hackett have all joined the club with Dan Ashworth seeking to bring in top young talent.

Newcastle United are set to sign Garang Kuol

Newcastle are now on the verge of another move with Australian teenager Garang Kuol seemingly set to join Newcastle.

beIN Sports reported on Wednesday that Newcastle have agreed a four-year deal with Kuol and he will be joining the Magpies in January.

It’s suggested that Kuol – who turns 18 today – is allegedly poised to earn £25,000-a-week at Newcastle.

The Athletic now add more to this story, claiming that a host of top European clubs have registered an interest in signing Kuol.

However, they are now set to miss out because Newcastle are in advanced talks to secure Kuol’s signature.

That’s a massive coup for Newcastle and Ashworth, showing the club’s pulling power even against Europe’s established elite.

Kuol’s move to Newcastle will become official in January but he doesn’t yet qualify for a work permit to play in England.

Kuol has this week been given a first call-up to Australia’s senior squad and is now in contention for a World Cup place, which would boost Kuol’s work permit hopes.

Still, Newcastle will loan Kuol out in January in order to give him experience elsewhere in Europe.

Kuol has shown huge potential with Central Coast Mariners and already has four goals in nine games for the Australian side.

Mariners boss Nick Montgomery has even called Kuol ‘special’ after his displays in Australia.

The teenager appears to have a huge future ahead of him and beating some of Europe’s top clubs to his signature has to be hugely exciting for Newcastle fans to read.
