Garang Kuol is set for a Newcastle medical as the Central Coast Mariners talent gears up for a big move to the Premier League.

Kuol is emerging as quite the prospect over in Australia.

The 18-year-old has already bagged four goals and one assist in nine A-League outings for Central Coast Mariners.

Fast and dangerous in the final third, Kuol is now set for a move to Europe – just like his brother Alou Koul, who left the Mariners for Stuttgart last year.

Yet whilst Alou headed to Germany, it looks like Garang is on his way to the Premier League.

Garang Kuol is set for a Newcastle medical

Reports throughout September have picked out Newcastle United as the favourites to sign Kuol.

Sky Sports suggested earlier this week that Newcastle were on the verge of securing a deal for Kuol, who is also wanted by Celtic.

The Daily Mail then added that the fee involved is just £300,000 with Newcastle securing a potential bargain.

The Northern Echo now add that Kuol is set to undergo a Newcastle medical within a matter of days.

They claim that Kuol will complete the formalities of his move having finished up his international commitments with Australia.

The deal will go through in January and Newcastle are understood to have activated a release clause in Kuol’s contract.

Newcastle will be delighted to have this deal tied up early, especially before the World Cup.

Kuol has catapulted himself into World Cup contention for Australia and made his international debut against New Zealand just a matter of days ago.

If Kuol had gone to the World Cup without this deal being in place, other clubs would have been able to swoop in and secure the teenager.

Newcastle clearly want to get the deal finalised before Kuol heads off to Qatar, and will now try to plan for him to go out on loan in January given that he doesn’t qualify to play in England yet.
