Newcastle United’s three managerial candidates are expecting to hear the club’s final decision before the weekend having seen Steve Bruce leave.
Bruce was axed on Wednesday, bringing his time at Newcastle to an end after more than two years in the job.
Newcastle’s new owners will now look to bring in a replacement, and a decision could be imminent even if Graeme Jones takes charge against Crystal Palace this weekend.

The Telegraph claim that Fonseca is Amanda Staveley’s pick for the job, but Newcastle are considering others.
Fonseca may play the most adventurous style of football in the long term, but Newcastle may not have the defenders to back up his attacking approach.
The same kind of goes for Howe. His Bournemouth side leaked goals regularly, but he does provide Premier League experience.
Favre is the most experienced of the two, and has managed a huge club in Borussia Dortmund.
Favre’s work at Borussia Monchengladbach and Nice was admirable, and he has averaged more goals scored than conceded all but one of his jobs.
We would back Favre for the job and then Fonseca as a second choice, with Howe in third place as Newcastle look to stay in the Premier League.
