Newcastle United could turn to Federico Dimarco as they continue to look at potential left back signings for the summer window.

That’s according to Inter Live, who suggest that Newcastle may move for Dimarco as an alternative target for Kieran Tierney.

Arsenal defender Tierney appears to be Newcastle’s top left back target but the Magpies would be wise to have other names in mind.

Dimarco could be one of them with Newcastle seemingly focusing on adding a new left back this summer.

Dan Burn has been playing in that role position but would probably admit himself that he is more of a centre back.

Matt Targett is another option in that area of the pitch but has been suffering injury problems of late.

That means Newcastle may splash the cash on a new left back and Dimarco could rival Tierney in the Magpies’ transfer plans.

Who is Newcastle United target Federico Dimarco?

Dimarco was born in Milan and joined the Inter ranks as a kid.

Dimarco emerged from the Inter youth setup but made just one league appearance for the club.

After loan spells at Ascoli and Empoli, Dimarco was sold to Sion in 2017 – only to be bought back by Inter a year later.

Loans at Parma and Verona followed but Dimarco has now – finally – become a first-team regular for Inter.

The 25-year-old has been playing as a left wing back for Inter and he has notched four goals as well as five assists this season.

Now an Italian international with eight caps to his name, Dimarco has worked incredibly hard to get to this point and interest is no surprise.

Former Inter ace Nicola Berti has hailed Dimarco’s performances this season as ‘exceptional’ and vital to the Inter side.

One thing Newcastle need to be aware of is that Manchester City are also keen.

90Min claim that City are eyeing a summer move for Dimarco and a fee of £40million has been mentioned.

That’s probably more expensive than Tierney would be, leaving Newcastle with plenty to think about.
