Newcastle United supporters are keen to see Aleksandar Mitrovic handed a run of games.
Newcastle United fans have been left baffled by Rafael Benitez’s continued failure to play Aleksandar Mitrovic.
Newcastle have struggled over the start of the season, with Dwight Gayle selected to start both of the Magpies’ matches so far this term.
Gayle was Newcastle’s top scorer last season, but he has cut an isolated figure in the Premier League.
With Benitez’s setting up fairly defensively, Gayle’s strengths have not been played to, and there is a feeling that Mitrovic would be a better option.
However, the signs that the Serbian international will get game time soon are not particularly positive.
Benitez brought on new Newcastle signing Joselu ahead of Mitrovic in his side’s defeat to Huddersfield Town at the weekend.
And Newcastle fans feel that Benitez is missing a trick by not at least handing Mitrovic a chance in his starting line-up.
Newcastle’s next match comes against Nottingham Forest in the League Cup, when Mitrovic may well get the nod to play.
