Torres played under Newcastle United manager Rafa Benitez at two clubs.

Several Newcastle United fans are urging their club to snap up Fernando Torres after the striker announced he will leave Atletico Madrid at the end of his contract this summer.
Torres has scored seven goals from 11 starts for Atleti – his boyhood club – this season.
But having turned 34 at the end of last month, it is perhaps little surprise to see the Spaniard’s second spell at the club coming to an end.

Clearly, though, Torres can still deliver at a decent level, and Newcastle – whose manager, Rafa Benitez, oversaw the most productive spell of the former Liverpool and Chelsea star’s career – could be the perfect place for a swansong.
At least that’s what the following Newcastle supporters believe…
Torres scored 87 goals in 160 games for Benitez, who signed the Atletico product for Liverpool and inherited him five years later at Chelsea.
Newcastle could be in the market for a striker this summer, when Islam Slimani’s loan contract is due to expire.
