Newcastle reportedly scouted Davie Selke on Friday night.

Newcastle United are reportedly interested in signing Bundesliga sensation Davie Selke after Toon scouts watched him score against Borussia Dortmund on Friday night – and fans have urged the club to lure him to Tyneside.

German newspaper Bild claim the 23-year-old is a target for both the Toon and relegation rivals Stoke City, as he continues to shine at Bundesliga side Hertha Berlin this season following his summer move from RB Leipzig.

This season, the 15-time Germany Under-21 international has scored nine goals in just 16 league and cup appearances as well as adding three assists in that time.

Selke boasts speed and aerial prowess as well as a decent first touch and an unwavering desire to score goals. It is difficult to pinpoint an obvious weakness in his game.

Although he is likely to cost a hefty transfer fee due to his age and the fact that his contract lasts until the summer of 2022, Newcastle fans have pleaded with their club to land Selke before the end of transfer window in a week’s time.

One fan described the potential transfer of Selke as a “fantastic signing”.
